When courage shows up

in uncertain times, my courage rises quietly. I do not need to know what is next to trust that this too shall pass."
During these unprecedented times, this is easier to say but harder to do. Spoiler Alert. Courage is not always loud or dramatic. Sometimes, it is simply the quiet decision to keep showing up when life feels different. And Honestly, that still counts.
When life started to change for me, I had one of those “I am fine” moments. You know, when you say you are fine but your voice cracks and your eyes start to water for no reason, but every reason. It started off innocently. I started watching the news and then my mind started to absorb all of the things I was viewing. This was compounded by thinking about my own situation, how this may affect our lives, and what happens next.
And then it dawned on me. I may not have it all figured out but, I needed to trust the process and take the next small step. And the next step after that. Once I realized this, a peaceful calm followed. It was not control, it was just peace and calm. The peace to take the next small steps, and know that "this too shall pass."
During these times, here are a few strategies that help if you start feeling overwhelmed:
Lower the bar. You do not need to reinvent your life overnight. Make your goals smaller and easier to finish. Confidence grows from progress, not perfection.
Do something grounding. Take a walk, tidy your space, or light a candle that smells like calm. The goal is not to fix everything, but to remind your mind and body that you are safe right now.
Celebrate the tiny wins. Got out of bed? Victory. Brushed your hair? You got this! Sent that email you have been avoiding? Next small step accomplished.
These small moments add up. Before you know it, the fog lifts and you realize that you have been trusting the journey the whole time. So if you are reading this and wondering how to make it through this season, remember that courage rarely makes a grand entrance. Sometimes, it just whispers, “Trust the process...We are okay...Keep going and take the next small step.” And suddenly you realize, that is enough.
You are Seen. You are Known. You are Loved.
