solitude is not loneliness

There was a season when I mistook every quiet moment for loneliness. I would sit at home surrounded by half-finished projects and cold tea, convinced I was supposed to be surrounded by friends. But over time, I learned that solitude is not the absence of people. It is the presence of yourself.

When life finally grew quiet enough for me to hear my own thoughts, I realized that I had been craving connection with myself the whole time. Loneliness often sneaks up when we have been giving too much of our energy away. Empaths, HSPs, and other deeply feeling souls feel the emotions of others like weather, and sometimes that weather can cloud our own inner forecast. Solitude becomes sacred when we stop seeing it as lack and start knowing it is time to return to ourselves. It is the difference between feeling lonely and feeling at peace with our own presence.
